For me and my mower it required modification and re-fabrication.
First the pros: stiff offset tines cover the ground well. Everything is made of tube steel and strong enough for the designed job. The youtube video for assembly is very useful.
The cons: the youtube video or single paper sheet with the url code would benefit GREATLY by adding a tools and sizes required for assembly (specifically, nut and bolt driver sizes). My main yoke assembly was “off center” and the bolts/holes would NOT align. When I sent picture to CMP they offered to send a new yoke or partial refund if I modified it myself. This is still pending resolution. This is NOT a universal fit for zero turn mowers. Ensure your front end is nearly identical to the demo mower otherwise you will need to modify your mower or the dethatcher, as I am doing. I figured this going in and I am welding a front bumper onto my Ferris mower so this dethatcher can attach without destroying either or both pieces.
Bottomline, I do recommend this dethatcher but with caution. Know exactly what you are doing and how. Do NOT expect this to be “plug and play” not “assemble and go” UNLESS your mower is nearly identical to CMPs demo unit.
This is my second dethatcher I have purchased. I love it. I sold a tractor and let the first one go in the sale. I bought another tractor and had to have another. They are just too much help in pine straw season not to have one.
Upgraded from the standard dethatcher to the HD unit after purchasing a larger tractor and it was well worth it. Pulled up a ton of thatch I was having trouble getting out of the yard and made short work of a long gravel driveway.
My only complaint is it was a pain to put together. I would pay extra to have the tines assembled before delivery. otherwise it works great.
